I’ve enjoyed being creative and making things for as far back as I can remember. I started doing embroidery when I was in college but I always picked large pieces that took forever to finish. I found that beaded jewelry was faster to make and I soon fell in love with freeform peyote. No patterns, no counting- just pick some pretty colored beads and start beading. I enjoy taking classes to learn new skills but I rarely follow patterns. I have a personal challenge to myself to just take the raw materials I have on hand and try to create something that is pretty and useful.

I started making eco-friendly crafts by using recycled raw materials. My ribbon skirts, made from ribbon scraps, are my most popular items at the craft shows I do. I also make Scrappie ornaments out of recycled popcorn and cookie tins and various other recycled metal. I’m always picking up interesting “trash” from the streets. My Beadustrial jewelry is made from pieces of hardware and beads.

Everything in both my Etsy shops is handmade by me. My “studio” is our guest room/studio. I do a lot of packing up and putting away supplies because someone is coming to visit. With little projects tucked all over our house I can keep busy crafting regardless of where I’m at. I even do beading in the car.
